Requesting an intro (the etiquette)
When the Access Map shows you a member who can get you into a company, you can request an introduction. Do it well and the whole network stays generous.
How it works
Pick the strongest path
Prefer the member who knows people at the company and is open to intros over someone who's merely connected. A warm path converts; a cold one usually doesn't.
Send a short, specific request
Say who you'd like to reach and why it's a fit. Keep it easy to say yes to.
The connector decides
They get an email about your request. It's framed clearly as 100% their call โ there are no forced intros here, ever.
The golden rule: give more than you take. The best way to get great intros is
to be the member everyone wants to introduce โ generous, low-pressure, and easy to
vouch for.
The three friendliness levels, from the intro side
- 1 Open to intros โ the connector can introduce you freely.
- 2 Ask first โ the connector will check with them before connecting.
- 3 Favor โ reserved for busy or private people; the connector may still make it happen as a personal favor if it's a genuine fit.
