How to download your LinkedIn connections

Your connections are the raw material of the whole party. Here's how to export them from LinkedIn — it takes about two minutes of clicking and a short wait.

  1. 1. Go to your data settings

    On LinkedIn, click your photo (Me) in the top bar → Settings & Privacy → Data Privacy → Get a copy of your data.

  2. 2. Pick the entire archive

    Choose Download larger data archive (the option that includes your connections) and click Request archive.

  3. 3. Wait ~15 minutes, then refresh

    LinkedIn says it'll email you, but you don't have to wait for that. Come back in about 15 minutes and refresh the page — the button turns blue.

  4. 4. Download the ZIP

    Click the blue button to download your ZIP file. That's it — you're done on LinkedIn.

  5. 5. Upload it to Prospecting Party

    In your application, upload the ZIP as-is (we'll find the Connections.csv inside), or upload the Connections.csv directly.

The #1 mistake: LinkedIn shows two radio buttons — do not pick the second one, "Want something in particular?". LinkedIn no longer offers Connections there, so that option won't include your connections at all. The only export that includes your Connections.csv is the first option, "Download larger data archive".
Pro move: teach your top 10 most-connected, most-networking-friendly people to do this too. A quick message that works: "Have you backed up your LinkedIn connections lately? If your account ever gets restricted, you could lose them. Want me to show you how to download them?" Then host a mini "download party" on Zoom for them.
